The story of TENBANTARO

Founded 60 years ago.

Sasada Wood is the first lumber shop in Japan to pioneer the distribution of South Sea timber and has contributed to its widespread use for a long time. “Tozai Shinpudo” has been working on space design and construction together with Sasada Wood for 30 years. Two companies that love solid wood have launched a brand “TENBANTARO” that specializes in top plates in order to further spread its appeal. With a solid eye to identify the material, a design that makes the most of the individuality, and a processing technology that assembles them precisely, we will continue to create confident works that allow you to fully enjoy the charm of solid wood.

“Ichi” means “One”.The “one” is crowned by the royal road top plate, where you can feel the warmth and strength of a single plate. We are importing and processing all by ourselves, so our love for wood is outstanding. We carefully cut each top plate from each log as if we are picking up a baby. Understand all the differences and characteristics of the production area, tree species, and fine grain of the wood. Among the solid boards that are not the same as one, we have only good quality ones.

“Jiro” is a top plate with a design added to a single plate to bring out the charm of solid wood. This is a rare series that would not have been possible without the cooperation of Sasada Wood and Tozai Shinpudo, as it is necessary to imagine the finish while looking at the condition of each material. We draw a special design that makes the best use of the individuality and grain of the material, and advanced processing technology to realize it. By making full use of the two, the top plate sublimates into a craft that goes beyond furniture.

The “Hanako” series is a bridge that connects the top plate and living space, such as legs and chairs. The legs are designed to have a casually well-designed presence while complementing the top plate, which is the main character. The chairs are placed together with the top plate to create a sense of unity in the space. By incorporating the detailed handicrafts of craftsmen into your daily life, you can add color and warmth to your daily life.

Maintenance

The “tree” continues to breathe even after it has been cut down. Since it is significantly affected by the surrounding environment such as sunlight and humidity, it may crack or warp due to drying if it is used for a long time. However, no matter how damaged it is, it is still an irreplaceable piece of furniture filled with family memories. We will take care of your favorite top plate and repair it according to the condition.

Trade-in

Due to changes in lifestyle, the floor plan of the house has changed significantly. It is not uncommon for the cherished tables and tables to not fit into the space you live in. We are happy to accept trade-in of top plate. In the changing time, we will propose a new top plate that suits the current life while passing on the high quality ones to the next generation.
